CCW Scrapmap Challenge - April 30th

This week's sketch

Along with this weeks sketch - we have gone for a theme - Weddings. I didn't have a wedding photo that I hadn't already scrapped but I did find this one of me and my cousin taken at a family wedding last year.

I have used the lovely My Minds Eye - Lost and Found papers.
two of the hearts are raised up on 3D foam pads - and although it is difficult to tell from the photos I have embossed them with clear embossing powder to give them a glaze.

a lovely Prima flower covered a bird on the paper that I didn't want!

tag is using my new SU tag punch

a closer look at one of the hearts

and some American Craft thickers to finish it off!

Thanks for looking and don't forget to pop over to CCW and give the sketch a go!

inky fingers!

Can't you tell I went to a distress class!!! Here we go again with a Birthday card for my God-son who is 12 on Tuesday! I have used a Sugar Nellie stamp, and Echo Park - little boy papers.

I have embossed using my cuttlebug with the cog/gears folder - I have then distress this using Weathered Wood, Tumbled Glass and Dusty Concord distress inks.
The giant cog is chipboard which has been triple embossed with silver embossing powder and then I stamped using my large EnFrancais Stampin Up stamp and stamped in in black while the embossing powder was still hot and melted. The cog in the centre is Tim Holtz (must get some more of these!!). I really do struggle with boy cards - but I have to say even I am happy with this one - love cogs and gears so think I need to invest in the TH die!

Thanks for taking the time to look!

WOYWW - April 20th

Well look at me posting on a Wednesday morning!!! Yes for Easter holidays and Yes for no work! I could quiet happily be a SAHM, I am enjoying my time with the boys, getting lots of jobs done, up to date with the ironing and even fitting in a bit of crafting! But it doesn't pay the bills so I am back working a night shift on Saturday and then back to work next Tuesday :-( There is 'stuff' on my desk - and for those that don't realise my desk is actually the kitchen table too! I have lists - I couldn't work without lists!! Shopping list, list for Town on Thursday and a jobs to do today list - this includes - updating the Grocery delivery, polish winter boots, file paperwork, post office, wash catbasket (get my boys on Friday!), wash winter coats (do you think I'm safe to put the away?), put stuff on ebay, strip the beds! I've also go to make some Birthday cards (including Sam's! - he is 10 on Tuesday!) I also have some SU paperwork on my desk - delivery is due today, and some Jamie Oliver invites as I am having a Jamie at Home party next month and they need to be written and posted.

Here is a closer look at the current LO I am working on - another photo from 2007 and the paper has just been spritzed with Glimmer mist so it is waiting to dry.
Thanks for reading my blurb - i'm sure the desk will look more crowded as the day moves on. Don't forget to pop over to Julia's blog and have a good nosey around at everyone's desk!

Time for you...........

UKS weekly challenge - April week 3 - Sue gave us an almost impossible challenge this week and although I found it difficult to begin with - the LO just fell together and I am really pleased with it - thanks to my distress inks!

The challenge was to not have a square LO, no brads/buttons/blooms or patterned paper, 1 or 3 photos, and pink/purple or brown/orange colours. I have used the reverse of a piece of diecut paper and I have distressed it to an inch of its life - I started of with Old Paper, followed by Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Rusty Hinge, and Aged Mahogany. - the edge of the paper had just been brushed with Black soot. I then sprayed the page with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist - Black Magic.
The papers on the LO are embossed using the cogs and script Cuttlebug embossing folders - these were then distressed using Old Paper, followed by Spiced Marmalade, Rusty Hinge and Walnut Stain. The Alphabet is Tim Holtz.
The pearly swirl is a section from a Prima Swirl, the Sentiment is printed on my PC and then cut out using one of the Nesabilities labels.
The Stamp set is 'A Sense of Time' from Stampin Up.
This photo of Sam and I was taken back in 2007 - he was only 6 years old. Soon he will be celebrating his 10th Birthday. Sam was diagnosed Autistic at two and a half. We have good days and bad days - but most of all he requires a bit of time and attention and I am often very guilty for not giving him this. I know today he wants to go to the Meadow - so today we will and I have also promised a trip to the book shop - I'm sure we will be in there for hours - but it will be Sam's time so he can take as long as he wants! He is the most funny, sensitive little character. he loves music, cards (especially Uno, Pokemon and Top Trumps) and collects lots of silly things - but along with his brother Jack they give me so much pleasure and I wouldn't change them for the world. Life certainly isn't dull in our house!

UKS Challenges - April 2011

A few UKS Challenges - Below is the April monthly sketch - which I rotated to fit with my photos

My boys (and God-son) messing about on the river - June 2007. We also had to have an altered element - which on my page was the chipboard swirl that was inked and painted. UKS April week 2 - Celebrate/Special event. Blue/Pink. Bells/Houses/Stamping or flowers. Photos are of Sam playing in the river - a reason to celebrate in our eyes as it was the first time he went into the water! Stamps are Stampin Up Circle Circus and the sentiment is Technique Tuesday - Ali Edwards.
UKS April week 1 - 2 photos. Circles. 2 types of embellishment and a song title. I have used 'Waterloo' as my title and again used the Circle Circus stamp set from Stampin Up.
my two embellishements were Dew drops and buttons
Thank you for looking.

Tim Holtz Style tags

Today I went to a workshop at Jendenink Craftworks - we made 6 Tim Holtz style tags - pictured below. I had a lovely day with Sue and Jan and Jennie was a fab teacher - I came home with 6 yummy tags and very inky fingers!

This tag was embossed using a Cuttlebug embossing folder and I have used TH Distressing inks - mustard seed, pine needles, rusty hinge and aged mahogony. I added some bling to the butterflies when I got home! This one was using yet another Cuttlebug die - the cogs have been painted with a silver crackle paint and the chipboard key has been double embossed with silver embossing powder and stamped with black archival ink. The colours used here were dusty concord, weathered wood and broken china.
This was probably one of my favourite tags - using TH dies and grunge board, colours used were spun sugar, tattered rose, aged mahogony and black soot.
This tag was embossed using a TH stamp and versamark ink and clear embossing powder. The TH inks are mustard seed, spiced marmalade, brushed corduroy, aged mahogony and black soot. The rosette is made by hand and I finished off at home with a TH button.
Another tag featuring many of the earlier colours and I have stamped the edges using vintage photo, the tag was spritzed with a bronze shimmer mist. I added a couple of photos of my boys into the film strip when I got home.
My final tag using most of the colours above and the film strip was a stamped image using stazon, stamped on to acetate.
I loved this class so much - I think I may do the second one in May!

Thanks for taking a look

You can see from the above photo that I have been using some SU stamps and inks and my new Ali Edwards Technique Tuesday stamps which I just love.

Don't forget to pop over to Stamping Ground to have a nosy at WOYWW! I would also like to wish my lovely hubby a Happy Birthday today! Thanks for taking the time to look Hugs Sarah x x x x
