How many of you have dabbled in a bit of Tim Holtz style tag making? What do you do with your tags when you finished making them? Put them on a card, a LO, a mini book, a gift? I am going to show you a couple of LO's with some of my tags I have made. Now I am no expert at distressing or making tags, its lot of trial and error! Please go to Tim's blog for demos on his tags! I am making blue tags for my LO's so I have used the following distress inks - Weathered Wood, Tumbled Glass, Broken China, Faded Jeans, and Chipped Sapphire.
You need a selection of blank tags, stamps, Archival ink, Versamark ink, black and clear embossing powders, a blending tool and be prepared to get very inky fingers. Start distressing the tag with the lighter ink (Weathered Wood) and then blend getting darker as you require (Chipped Sapphire).
I've made 3 small tags for my LO, the first tag I clear embossed the sentiment before I starting the distressing so the embossed sentiment resists the ink. I stamped the butterfly on acetate and cut it out for a 3D effect, and then added some metal embellishments to finish
This tag has had the 'Post Card' sentiment embossed with black embossing powder, and I sprayed the tag with water to give the mottled look.
This tag I've embossed the stars.
I've cut two photos the same size as the three tags and I inked the edges with Black Soot distress ink
I've used Kraft C/S and stamped a brick wall across the page - I used a ruler, as if you do it free hand your brick wall will slope down (voice of experience!!)
I added some stamped 'splodges'! - not that you will actually see much of this!
Here is my finished LO - with an addition of a title, some bling and ribbon.
Then finished off with a date! These photos are of Sam take at the IOW last June.
This LO started with a cog! I cut using a TH die and the big shot, I coloured the chipboard using Stormy Sky distress ink.
Then I covered it in clear crackle paint.
I started to distress my tags, first with Weathered Wood, Tumbled Glass and then Broken China.
Then I decided to emboss the tag using the TH cogs embossing folder.
The other tag I stamped and then sprayed with Glimmer Mist.
Both tags were finished off with Black Soot around the edges.
I have again used Kraft C/S which I sprayed with Glimmer Mist.
I stamped lots of stars and added liquid pearls and glitter.
My finished LO complete with tags, title and metal embellishments.
A close up of the two tags.
I need to check the date of this photo but I think it was approx 2003 - Sam was approx 2 yrs old, and Jack 5 yrs old!!
Thanks for taking the time to look at my blog, I love to read your comments - good luck with the blog hop and please now hop on over to Lesley's Blog to see her fab box tutorial!
