UKS End Of Summer Blog Hop - Project Life!

Welcome to my blog and to UKS End Of Summer Blog Hop, You should have hopped over from Karen's blog! - I decided to talk about Project Life, and how I 'do' project life and the fact that there is no right or wrong way to 'do' Project Life!
I started to investigate PL back in 2009/2010 when it wasn't available in the UK, there wasn't really such a thing as divided page protectors either! At the beginning of 2011 we could finally order PL via Amazon.co.uk.  It took forever to arrive and was stuck in customs for weeks, mine arrived in June 2011. Soon after that PL was available via Scrapbookers Inner Circle and their European distribution centre.  Now PL is available from many scrapbooking retailers!  I got started PL using my current photos from 2011 - and now here I am in my 3rd year of PL and I still love it.  I love how you can scrapbook everyday snapshots and journal about them, the photos that probably won't make on to a 12 x 12 scrapbooking page and some photos that are traditionally scrapbooked.
I don't PL, a weekly set of photos - not even monthly!  Some months like January I take a handful of photos - July/Aug where we have school activties, birthdays, holidays etc I take more photos.  Some days/months have one or two pics from an event, others have lots!  This is a very photo heavy blog post so if you get fed up with my pages - skip to the end!! ;-)
Sometimes throughout my album I add other pages and different sizes - this photo above is a 6 x 12 page, it could have gone in a different scrapbook, but its my niece so wanted to keep it in PL.
I use a mixture of PL 4x6 and 3x4 cards, I also use Simple Stories too.
These pages are Becky Higgins PL page protectors, but I use other Page Protectors too such as WRMK and American Crafts - I love the variety of different Page Protectors.

This is another variety of page protector - I wanted to include lots of photos from a trip to the Zoo!

Another page - designed to hold 5 6x4 pages

None of these photos would have made it on to a 12 x 12 page - but I wanted to record the event, such as flooding in June and Fire Engine visiting the hospital where I work (not that this is unusual, but they were there for our department!)
A WRMK page - designed to hold 9 3x4 photos/cards - I've filled it with school sports day photos - both sides...so there are 16 photos and 2 journalling cards.
I don't just put photos and jounalling in my album but other important 'stuff' - like the front of the cupcake box of the Hummingbird Bakery cupcake I received!
 An 8 x 8 page - a baby announcement from my cousin!
 A different format of pages.
 A birthday!
School shoe shopping receipt! and a trip to Nandos.

 another 6 x 12 page

This page has the front of a Trollbead gift bag - I've trimmed the bag and used it as a jounalling card to talk about my new beads and why they were so special.
The original PL albums were bigger than the standard AC 12 x 12 albums and wouldn't fit on my Expedit bookcase from Ikea - so I switched to 12 x 12 black AC albums, however now AC are making PL albums they maybe the same size as AC standard albums.
The reason I love PL is its a quick way to get my photos and their story in an album, I still scrap 12 x 12 pages very often as I get kits and I complete UKS challenges, I just pick and choose favourite pictures.
My best purchase to date is the PL pens - they are lovely to write with, and the fantastic WRMK 3 x 4 punch - it makes trimming photos so much quicker!  When I'm not in the mood for full on scrapbooking or I've not got the room (like when we go to the caravan on holiday), I can take my current PL album, a bucket load of photos, some page protectors, little guillotine, my new punch and a few cards/papers and fill up my pages - sometimes I fill the pages with photos and go back and finish the journalling when I get home!
Thanks for looking and I hope I've not bored you too much - I just wanted to share how I 'do' PL!
Now you need to hop over to Emy's blog
Love and Hugs Sarah x x x x

Love your PL pages, I tend to use PL style for using up the photos I have at the end of the holiday that don't deserve a 12x12!!

I like the idea of PL but worry about keeping up, but the way you just grab a handful of photos from a month is a good idea as there is no pressure to do it week in week out.

Thank you for sharing how you do PL!
We've tried PL a couple of times and love the fact that it can incorporate the every day that maybe wouldn't warrant a 12 x 12 page on its own, also for those holiday snaps where you want to remember everything. Your pages are lovely.

It's lovely to see how flexible you've been with PL.
